Regular office rubber bands can launch a paper clip at speeds nearly as fast as light. This is why paper clips seem to randomly appear and disappear at your desk. By being so near to light speed, they have attained a property similar to light’s ability to be both a particle and a wave. Unlike light, however, paper clips can’t be both at the same time.
